Turkish Airlines resumes Istanbul-Minsk flights to boost trade
Turkish Airlines has resumed flights between Istanbul and Minsk, a move expected to accelerate commercial ties between Turkey and Belarus. Fatih Işık, President of the DEİK Turkey-Belarus Business Council, stated that the resumption of these flights will facilitate direct contact for the business community, making B2B meetings, factory visits, and investment discussions easier to organize.
The renewed transport link aims to leverage synergies between Belarus’s industrial infrastructure and Turkey’s production and export capacity. Key sectors identified for potential cooperation include automotive sub-industry, machinery, energy equipment, and production technologies. Additionally, Istanbul’s role as an international transit hub provides passengers from Belarus with access to Turkey and third-country markets.
Despite the potential for growth and joint production, challenges remain. International sanctions continue to impact financing, payment systems, and logistics, which are primary obstacles to the further development of economic relations between the two nations.
