Turkish Airlines signs multi-billion engine deal with CFM International
Turkish Airlines has signed a major agreement with CFM International to acquire more than 600 LEAP-1B engines for its Boeing 737 MAX fleet. The deal, announced in Istanbul, covers the airline’s entire LEAP-1B engine inventory, including existing engines, spare units, and those for leased aircraft. This supply will support both the main carrier and its subsidiary, AJet.
Beyond engine procurement, the agreement includes a material services protocol to support the establishment of a new maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) center in Turkey through Turkish Airlines Teknik A. Ş. This facility is intended to expand the country’s capabilities in next-generation engine maintenance and strengthen its position within the global aviation industry.
Representatives from Turkish Airlines and Safran, a joint venture partner of CFM International, noted that the partnership marks a significant milestone in their long-standing relationship and will facilitate the airline's continued fleet and network expansion.
