Turkish Archery Team targets multiple medals for 2028 Olympics
Yusuf Göktuğ Ergin, the Technical Director of the Turkish National Archery Team, has announced the team's ambitions for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Following successes in the 2020 and 2024 Olympics, the team is aiming for multiple medals, including gold, with a specific goal of securing a medal through a female athlete.
Ergin noted that securing Olympic quotas has become significantly more difficult due to changes in the system. The inclusion of compound bows in the Los Angeles Games has reduced the total number of available quotas for recurve bows. To ensure a large delegation, the team is focusing on high performance at the 2027 European Games and the World Championships in Medellin, Colombia.
Speaking from the team's training camp in Antalya, Ergin emphasized that while the recent successes in 2026 major competitions are promising, the coaching staff aims to balance high aspirations with a measured approach to avoid placing excessive pressure on the athletes.
