Mehmet Fatih Tançalan arrested for alleged money laundering

Mehmet Fatih Tançalan, known on social media as ‘Vanlı Kara Haydar’, has been arrested on charges of money laundering. The investigation follows a high-profile wedding in Van that gained viral attention due to the massive amount of gold and jewelry displayed.

A financial report from MASAK (Financial Crimes Investigation Board) revealed a significant discrepancy between Tançalan’s reported commercial earnings and his actual bank activity. While his registered commercial profit since 2020 was only 74,281 TL, his bank transfers reached approximately 115 million TL. When including his wife, social media influencer Çağla Öz, the total transfer volume exceeded 222 million TL. The report also highlighted luxury vehicle purchases, including a Porsche Macan.

Tançalan’s wife, Çağla Öz, has also been taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation. Tançalan has defended his lifestyle, claiming some jewelry was borrowed for advertising purposes and suggesting his income involves ‘mail order’ transactions from Dubai.

In a related development, Ali Haydar Kurum, known as ‘Beyaz Haydar’, was also detained in Istanbul. Authorities are investigating several individuals accused of using social media to project lifestyles funded by questionable sources.
