Aydo Yazılım targeted in MİT-led data breach operation
An operation coordinated by the National Intelligence Organization (MİT), the Cyber Security Presidency, and the Gendarmerie General Command has targeted Aydo Yazılım, an Ankara-based software company providing services to labor unions. The investigation revealed that the company had integrated a specialized query interface into its union management software, which allowed unauthorized access to the personal data of non-union members.
Technical analysis indicates that the system could be used to query datasets previously leaked on the internet. Using Turkish Republic ID numbers, individuals could access sensitive identity and population information. Investigators also found that the system logs systematically used the 'NVİ' label to create the impression that the data was sourced directly from the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs, although technical findings showed this was not the case.
Furthermore, the investigation uncovered that the databases contained records of individuals under the age of 18. The scale of the potential breach is significant, with reports suggesting the personal data of over 2 million public employees may have been compromised. Five suspects, including the company owner and employees, have been detained in Ankara as technical examinations of the software infrastructure and data access logs continue.
