Turkish authorities seize 300 million lira worth of heroin in cargo operation

Authorities in Turkey have seized approximately 109.3 kilograms of heroin, valued at an estimated 300 million lira, during a routine inspection at a cargo transfer center in the Kahramankazan district of Ankara.

The seizure occurred on August 21 after narcotics detection dogs alerted officers to three packages. Following a coordinated investigation with the Istanbul Provincial Police Department, a suspect identified as A. S. was apprehended in Istanbul while attempting to collect the shipment on August 24. The suspect has since been arrested.

A multi-faceted investigation is ongoing to identify the origin of the drugs. Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for another suspect, M. A. B., and have seized a vehicle linked to the operation. The investigation is currently being coordinated with the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and Van Provincial Police to trace the shipment's source and investigate potential money laundering activities.
