Turkish authorities seize counterfeit USD and large drug quantities
Law enforcement agencies in Turkey have conducted several successful operations targeting counterfeit currency and narcotics.
In Istanbul, the Provincial Gendarmerie Command seized 2,890,000 USD in counterfeit currency, consisting of 28,900 fake 100-dollar bills, during an operation in the Esenyurt district. One suspect was apprehended.
In a separate narcotics operation in Esenyurt, the Istanbul Police Department seized 143 kilograms of skunk cannabis divided into 129 pieces. Five suspects were taken into custody.
In Izmir, police conducted raids in the Konak and Bornova districts, resulting in the seizure of nearly 30 kilograms of skunk cannabis and 16.6 kilograms of cocaine found in vehicles. Three suspects were arrested.
Additionally, in Bingöl, authorities seized 3.073 kilograms of cannabis, synthetic drugs, an unlicensed pistol, and a precision scale. One individual was arrested on drug trafficking charges.
