Turkey conducts massive narcotics operation across 28 provinces

Turkish authorities conducted a massive coordinated narcotics operation across 28 provinces, targeting drug traffickers and illegal cannabis cultivation. The operation was led by the Gendarmerie General Command's Narcotics Crimes Department in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and local Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices.

Law enforcement officials reported the seizure of 104 kilograms of narcotics and 294,000 drug pills. Additionally, 2.2 million cannabis and skunk plants were identified and destroyed. The investigation revealed that suspects were using social media and messaging applications to organize drug sales and manage illegal cultivation operations.

Out of 96 suspects detained during the raids, 69 have been arrested and sent to prison, while 27 others are under judicial control. The operation involved 7,956 personnel and 1,326 narcotics and public order teams.
