Turkish banks compete with high promotion offers for retirees and employees

Turkish banks are intensifying competition through various promotion campaigns for retirees and public employees. As of September 2026, Şekerbank offers the highest total package of up to 35,000 TL, though much of this amount is contingent upon meeting specific conditions such as using credit cards, insurance, or overdraft accounts. Other notable offers include Türkiye Finans at 32,000 TL and DenizBank at 30,000 TL.

Akbank has also updated its offerings, providing up to 15,000 TL in cash promotions for retirees who transfer their salaries to the bank and commit to a three-year period. These payments are tiered based on the monthly net income, with the highest amounts reserved for those earning 20,000 TL or more.

In the public sector, employees of the Elazığ Family and Social Services Provincial Directorate have expressed dissatisfaction with recent bank promotion tenders. Officials argued that a 48,000 TL offer for a 36-month period is insufficient given current economic conditions and the significant economic value provided by the high volume of public employee salaries to the banking sector.
