Turkey: CHP leader criticizes fund crisis and agricultural prices

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel addressed the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, criticizing the government over a fund crisis that he claims has victimized 455,000 investors. Özel called for the official disclosure of documents related to the crisis and advocated for a parliamentary research commission to investigate the financial losses affecting millions of people.

During his speech, Özel also highlighted significant issues in the agricultural sector. He noted a sharp decline in olive prices, stating that prices in regions such as Balıkesir, Bursa, and the Aegean have dropped from 75 lira last year to 25 lira this year.

In related political developments, a legislative proposal regarding fund liquidations is under scrutiny. Some AK Party and MHP members of parliament have expressed dissatisfaction with the proposal, arguing that the current plan to offer interim payments of up to 1 million TL lacks sufficient guarantees for the full repayment of principal amounts.
