Turkish Cabinet meets to discuss fund crisis and security strategy
The Turkish Cabinet, led by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is convening to address several high-priority national issues. A central agenda item is the ongoing investigation into a fund crisis affecting approximately 455,000 investors. Ministers Mehmet Şimşek and Akın Gürlek are expected to provide technical and legal briefings regarding the status of the investigation and potential measures to protect investor rights and prevent future financial instability.
Another major topic is the “Terror-Free Turkey” initiative. The Executive Board, chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, is holding its second meeting to evaluate the disarmament and dissolution process of PKK elements in northern Iraq and Syria. The board has established four sub-committees to manage judicial processes, social integration, field monitoring, and strategic coordination of disarmament.
Additionally, the Cabinet will discuss preparations for the new legislative year starting October 1, the 2027 budget, and recent diplomatic activities following President Erdoğan’s participation in the United Nations General Assembly. Foreign policy concerns, including tensions between the US and Iran, the Russia-Ukraine war, and the situation in Gaza, will also be reviewed.
