Turkish cities crack down on illegal street vendors and beach violations

In Tarsus, Mersin Metropolitan Municipality and Tarsus municipal police, together with district security officers, conducted a joint inspection of sidewalks and streets. The operation removed advertising boards, signs, and illegal street‑vendor stalls that obstructed pedestrian traffic and posed safety hazards. Violators received citations and were warned that similar actions would continue.

In the coastal city of Ordu, municipal police intensified beach patrols for the summer season. Officers addressed 80 violations, including the erection of tents in public beach areas, open fires, littering, and the prolonged parking of caravans that disrupted public order. Offenders were initially warned and, if non‑compliant, faced legal penalties. Authorities indicated that beach monitoring will remain ongoing throughout the season.
