Turkish cities launch free open‑air cinema series this summer

Municipal authorities in several Turkish cities have organized free outdoor film screenings for the summer. In Kayseri’s Talas district, the municipality opened the Turkish World Nations Park with an open‑air cinema, debuting the classic “Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım” starring the late Kadir İnanır and Türkan Şoray. Mayor Mustafa Yalçın highlighted the program’s aim to bring culture and nostalgia to residents.

Ankara’s Çankaya district announced a municipal open‑air cinema programme running from 24 July to 6 September, offering a schedule of classic, comedy and family films – including “Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım”, “Vizontele”, “Forrest Gump” and “Coco”. Screenings are free, start at 20:30, and include popcorn and soda.

In Denizli, the metropolitan municipality held a special open‑air theatre showing of the film “Entelköy Efeköy’e Karşıfilminin”. The event featured local officials and attracted a large audience, with additional activities such as a certificate ceremony for short‑film workshop graduates. All three initiatives aim to expand cultural access and promote community gathering during the warm evenings.
