Turkish cities roll out free digital skills and safety training
The Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality organised a "Dijitalde Güvendeyim" programme to educate senior citizens about online fraud and safe internet use. Participants received practical guidance on identifying fake bank calls, phishing SMS, and other common scams, with demonstrations and Q&A sessions aimed at increasing digital awareness among the elderly.
In Eskişehir, the municipal DİGEM centre launched free courses for young people covering software development, artificial intelligence, robotics, and digital marketing. The training, praised by Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce and led by educator Yusuf Kenan Uğur, runs for 15‑25 hours over a month and provides hands‑on experience in coding, AI projects such as "Eskişehir AI", and networking opportunities, all at no cost to participants.
