Turkish citizens face border congestion during return to Europe
Turkish citizens living in Europe are currently undergoing their return journeys following summer holidays in Turkey. This seasonal movement has led to significant vehicle queues at several border crossings.
Heavy congestion is being reported at the Kapıkule, Hamzabeyli, Pazarkule, and İpsala border gates. Kapıkule, which serves as a primary transit point for those traveling toward Bulgaria, has seen particularly high density, with queues stretching for meters as travelers complete customs and passport procedures.
Travelers interviewed expressed a mix of satisfaction with their visits and sadness regarding their departure. Many noted that while the holidays allowed them to reconnect with family and visit hometowns, the transition back to their places of residence in countries such as Germany, Belgium, and Austria is often an emotional process.
