Turkish city fire services handle thousands of fires and rescues in early 2026

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality’s fire department reported that between 1 May and 12 July it responded to 1,804 fires and 799 rescue or emergency incidents, totaling 2,669 operations in 73 days. The incidents included 784 grass, straw and waste fires, 319 grain fires, 174 crop fires, 132 residential fires and numerous vehicle, electrical panel, garden, building and forest fires. In addition, the crews carried out 373 animal rescues, 208 security‑related interventions, 90 traffic‑accident responses, 88 life‑saving actions and 34 flood‑related operations.

The Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality’s fire department released its second‑quarter 2026 figures, covering April–June. It handled 526 fire incidents and 558 rescue operations, amounting to 1,084 events. The department also conducted 70 public‑safety trainings for 2,464 citizens, performed 206 inspections, and received 107 false alarms during the period.
