Turkish climbers summit Mount Verçenik and Mount Kazbek

Sedat Karacan and Fatih Cingü, instructors from the Rota Nature Sports Club, successfully completed two major high-altitude climbs in quick succession. On August 29, 2026, the duo reached the summit of Mount Verçenik in Rize, Turkey.

Immediately following this achievement, they traveled to Georgia to tackle Mount Kazbek, which stands at 5,554 meters. Despite facing challenging conditions including darkness, glacier crossings, extreme cold, and dense fog, the climbers forged their own route after visibility dropped. They reached the main summit at 11:30 AM. They were joined by a small group of climbers from Poland and Finland. Notably, a dog encountered during the ascent accompanied the team through the difficult terrain, reaching the summit alongside the climbers.
