Turkish Coast Guard conducts Aegean Sea operations, rescuing 106 migrants and detaining six smugglers

The Turkish Coast Guard, together with the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), carried out two coordinated operations in the Aegean Sea. Drones and patrol vessels identified vessels carrying irregular migrants near İzmir's Seferihisar district and the Bodrum Gümbet area.

In Seferihisar’s Akvaryum Bay, 39 migrants and one suspected smuggler were intercepted; the migrants were transferred to provincial immigration offices. Near Bodrum, authorities stopped a sailboat carrying 67 migrants and seized two smuggler suspects, later apprehending three additional suspects on land, bringing the total to six smuggling suspects.

Separate rescue efforts saved a stranded sailor from a disabled yacht and assisted seven people aboard a motorized inflatable boat that had called for help. Overall, 106 migrants and six smugglers were detained across the two operations.
