Turkish Coast Guard intercepts and rescues 67 migrants near Izmir

The Turkish Coast Guard Command conducted two separate operations off the coasts of Seferihisar and Cesme in Izmir on August 29, intervening in the movement of 67 irregular migrants in the Aegean Sea.

In the first operation near Seferihisar, authorities intercepted a rubber boat containing 37 migrants from Ethiopia, Yemen, South Sudan, and Sudan. Shortly after, at approximately 08:00, a second operation took place near Cesme following a distress call. Coast Guard units rescued 30 migrants—including individuals from Yemen, Palestine, and Sudan—who were adrift in a rubber boat facing the risk of sinking.

All individuals were brought to shore, underwent health checks, and were subsequently handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.
