Turkish courts hand 12‑year sentence in Adana drug case, probe Ankara prostitution network

The 12th Heavy Penal Court in Adana sentenced defendant Y. A. to 12 years and 6 months in prison and imposed a fine of 125,000 Turkish lira for drug trafficking after he was caught selling narcotics from a storage shed behind his home in the Seyhan district. The trial was conducted via the SEGBİS video‑link system while the defendant’s lawyer attended in person. Evidence included phone messages about drug sales and materials used for packaging seized during a search of the residence.

Separately, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office continues a combined drug and prostitution investigation. Digital messages allegedly shared on social media reference requests for women from Gaziantep, suggesting a broader network beyond Ankara. Authorities have not confirmed the authenticity of the screenshots or identified any individuals in Gaziantep, and the investigation remains ongoing.
