Turkish customs officials seize large quantities of narcotics in separate operations

Turkish customs authorities have conducted two significant drug seizures in separate operations. At Ankara Esenboğa Airport, a three-stage operation led by the Ministry of Trade's Ankara Customs Enforcement and Intelligence Directorate resulted in the recovery of 31.62 kilograms of narcotics. The seizure involved drugs hidden in plastic containers within luggage and a sophisticated method where 17.6 kilograms of narcotics were chemically infused into 36 pieces of clothing, which was detected by a narcotics detection dog named 'Kabus'.

In a separate incident at the Gürbulak Customs Area on the Iran-Turkey border, authorities intercepted a truck entering from Iran. During the inspection, officials discovered 5.02 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden inside a large picnic gas cylinder located in the vehicle's trailer. The Iranian driver was taken into custody, and the Doğubayazıt Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched a judicial investigation into drug trafficking.
