Turkish Cypriots to hold dual elections on December 6
Turkish Cypriots are set to hold simultaneous local and early parliamentary elections on December 6. This dual electoral process is expected to provide a significant measure of both local and broader political sentiment.
The political landscape is primarily defined by the competition between the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) and the National Unity Party (UBP). According to a recent poll published by the newspaper ‘Kıbrıs’ in collaboration with Demo Ajans, the CTP leads with 37.5%, while the UBP follows with 33.1% after the distribution of undecided voters.
CTP President Sila Usar Inciirli has centered the party's platform on combating corruption, promoting meritocracy, fiscal discipline, and strengthening the productive economy. In Nicosia, the CTP is supporting the current mayor and TDP candidate, Mehmet Harmanci.
