Turkish engineers export raspberries to Far East markets

Two engineer brothers, Yasin and Samed Çiner, have established a successful raspberry production and export operation in the Karataş district of Adana, Turkey. Utilizing a 31-decare greenhouse funded by state loans from Ziraat Bank, the brothers have harvested approximately 10 tons of raspberries over a nine-month period.

The produce, which is sold both frozen and in powder form, is being exported to Far East markets, including China, Japan, and South Korea. The products serve various industries, ranging from fresh consumption and pastry making to the health industry, where powdered raspberries are used by athletes.

The operation employs 12 permanent staff and 40 seasonal workers, the majority of whom are women. The brothers aim to expand their production to an annual target of 30 to 40 tons and plan to transition from soil-based to soilless production methods to increase efficiency.
