Turkish Family Courts Publish Public Divorce Notices for Foreign Defendants

The 4th Family Court in Kahramanmaras announced a public summons for Syrian national Adnan Ası in a contested divorce case. Because his address could not be located, the court set a preliminary hearing for 09 Nov 2026 at 09:10 and gave the defendant two weeks to submit any required documents. The notice warns that failure to appear will result in a judgment rendered in absentia, with no right to appeal the proceedings conducted without the defendant.

Similarly, the 2nd Family Court in Çorum issued a public notice for Mohammed Ismael M. A. Mohammed Ameen, also a foreign national, in a divorce proceeding. The court could not locate his address and scheduled a hearing for 15 Sept 2026 at 09:30. The defendant has a two‑week period to respond to the complaint; non‑compliance will be treated as acceptance of the plaintiff’s claims and the case will proceed without his participation.

Both notices invoke Article 139/1 of the Turkish Civil Procedure Code, demanding that the defendants complete the procedural steps within the stipulated timeframe or be considered to have waived their right to contest the evidence.
