Turkish farmer harvests over 1 ton of giant pumpkins from three plants

Mehmet İslah, a farmer from Farsak village in the Düziçi district of Osmaniye Province, Turkey, planted three Tevruz pumpkins in his garden as a hobby. The vines quickly covered the garden, and each pumpkin reached 35–40 kg, producing a total harvest of roughly 700 kg to just over 1 ton.

İslah said the pumpkins are known locally as “Tevruz” or “Cyprus” pumpkin and are used for both savory dishes and sweets. He does not yet know the market size but would consider selling the large pumpkins to confectionery producers, while the remainder would be given to friends and neighbours.
