Turkish farmers protest TMO warehouse rental deductions
Farmers are raising concerns regarding warehouse rental deductions applied during grain purchases conducted by the Turkish Grain Board (TMO) through the Electronic Product Receipt (ELÜS) system.
Under the current process, producers bring their products to licensed warehouses via appointments. However, a gap exists between the physical delivery of the product at the scale and the actual completion of the sale to TMO via the ÜPAK system. This delay results in warehouse rental fees being charged to the farmers. Producers argue that since they are delivering goods specifically for sale to TMO rather than for long-term storage, they should not be held responsible for costs incurred while waiting for the official purchase order to be processed.
