Fenerbahçe faces scheduling and transfer updates ahead of Gençlerbirliği match

Fenerbahçe is facing several logistical and roster challenges ahead of the new Süper Lig season. The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) rejected Fenerbahçe's request to postpone their opening match against Gençlerbirliği, which was requested to allow the team more recovery time before their critical UEFA Champions League play-off matches against Olympique Lyon. In response to the rejection, the club has reportedly submitted a new request to postpone their second-week match against Konyaspor.

On the roster front, goalkeeper İrfan Can Eğribayat has officially transferred from Fenerbahçe to Gençlerbirliği on a two-year contract. Additionally, Fenerbahçe goalkeeper Mert Günok has suffered an injury and is expected to miss the Gençlerbirliği match. Meanwhile, Fenerbahçe supporters have expressed protest against Gençlerbirliği, filing a complaint with the TFF regarding high ticket prices for the away section at the upcoming match in Ankara.

Gençlerbirliği is entering its 50th season in the Süper Lig and will host Fenerbahçe at Eryaman Stadium on August 15.
