Turkish fundraising campaigns for DMD patients reach critical milestones

In Turkey, two separate fundraising campaigns for children battling Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) have reached critical milestones.

Toprak Kaan Selvi, a 10-year-old living in Istanbul, has successfully completed a 22-month fundraising campaign authorized by the Istanbul Governor's Office. To celebrate the achievement, a gathering was held in Beyşehir, Konya, where approximately 1,500 balloons were released. The Selvi family is now preparing to travel to Dubai within 10 to 15 days to begin the necessary medical treatment.

Meanwhile, in Erzurum, a campaign for Ahmet Sami is entering its final stages. The family requires an additional $200,000 to reach the total $2.9 million needed for gene therapy. MHP Erzurum Provincial Chairman Adem Yurdagül has contributed 1.5 million TL to the cause and has called upon the local business community and Erzurum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ETSO) candidates to assist in meeting the funding goal within the remaining 25-day window.
