Turkish Governor Ahmet Karakaya Promotes Geothermal Development in Bitlis' Güroymak

Bitlis Governor Ahmet Karakaya visited the Güroymak district to inspect ongoing geothermal research and an energy transmission line upgrade. He emphasized that unlocking the area's geothermal potential could support electricity generation, greenhouse agriculture, thermal tourism and create regional jobs.

The visit included tours of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources' MTA geothermal study sites and VEDAŞ’s line‑reinforcement works in the villages of Taşüstü and Gedikpınar. Local officials, including the district mayor and security chiefs, were briefed on project timelines and expected economic benefits.
