Turkish industry leaders call for sector reforms in Alanya and Mersin
In Alanya, Okan Şen, Chairman of OMİM Architecture, has criticized the Alanya Contractors Association (MÜTBİR) regarding its corporate structure and industry representation. Şen argued that the association lacks the institutional prestige and physical presence necessary to attract and host international real estate investors. He called for architects and contractors to unite under a stronger professional umbrella to address sector-wide challenges, including rising costs, licensing issues, and sales processes.
Meanwhile, in Mersin, the Mersin Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MESİAD) is calling for increased tourism investments. Despite improvements in infrastructure, such as the opening of Çukurova International Airport and ongoing highway and railway projects, officials noted that many allocated areas for hotels and holiday villages remain undeveloped. MESİAD emphasized the need for transparency in allocation processes and supported the establishment of an international fair and congress center to boost regional economic growth.
