Mesut Can Tomay detained in Turkish drug investigation

Mesut Can Tomay, a 27‑year‑old Turkish actor and social‑media influencer known for his Vine videos, participation in Yetenek Sizsiniz Türkiye and YouTube collaborations with Ali Biçim, was taken into custody in late July 2026.

Police from the Şişli district raided a residence after a bag containing approximately 9.5 g of skunk‑type marijuana was left there. Tomay, along with two other suspects – Mustafa Tolga Özen and Süleyman Çınar – was detained. In his statement to prosecutors, Tomay admitted that the drug was his, that he had ordered it, and that he hid the bag inside a natural‑gas meter box because he feared being targeted by high‑profile drug operations.

All three suspects were later transferred to the Sulh Ceza Hakimliği and released under judicial‑control measures while the investigation by the Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office continues. No detention order was issued, and the case remains open.
