Turkey's agriculture ministry launches farmer support programs across regions

The Aydın Provincial Directorate of Agriculture warned that recent regional rains have boosted populations of tobacco thrips and cotton leaf bug, urging growers to conduct regular field scouting and early interventions.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced that the Grain Board (TMO) has begun making the first payments to farmers for grain purchases initiated on 3 June, with payments deposited into accounts 21 days after delivery and plans to expand procurement points from 211 to 600 nationwide.

In Edirne, the Trakya Agricultural Research Institute demonstrated new domestic oat varieties—Kahraman, Kaymaklı, Kınalı and Kırklar—at a field harvest event, highlighting yield potential and disease resistance for local producers.

A corn‑seed planting event in Düzce promoted the use of locally developed corn seed, emphasizing women’s involvement, rural development and value‑added processing into corn flour.

The Aydın "Tarım Sahada – Friday Meetings" will bring officials to 17 neighbourhoods on 26 June to hear farmers’ concerns on crop and livestock issues, forest‑fire prevention and pesticide prescriptions.

In Tunceli’s Geyiksuyu village, a women‑focused strawberry harvest under the Albion project showcased successful yields and plans to expand the crop as a regional income source.

Kütahya’s Tavşanlı district hosted a training on the proper application of plant‑protection products, covering safety, environmental impact and best practices to protect pollinators.

Additional local gatherings in Düzce (Uğurlu village) and Mersin (kapya pepper farms) addressed pest management, biological control and sustainable farming methods.
