Turkish Internet Media Union opens new headquarters in Ankara
The Turkish Internet Media Union (TİMBİR), established by Presidential Decree in 2023, officially opened its new headquarters in Ankara during a ceremony attended by various government officials, political figures, and media representatives.
TİMBİR President Dr. Süleyman Basa emphasized the organization's role in promoting responsible, reliable, and impartial journalism in the digital age. He highlighted that the union operates through five distinct structures, including TİMBİR Academy, which provides professional training with over 40 academics, and the Safe Internet Media and Monitoring Center (GİMER), which works to prevent disinformation.
To support digital transformation, the union provides infrastructure services such as a news agency for members and AI-supported web updates via BHA Web. Basa stated that the organization aims to strengthen local media across Turkey and increase the visibility of Turkish digital media internationally, particularly within the Turkic world.
