Turkish Journalist Vedat Yenerer Laid to Rest in Istanbul

Veteran war correspondent Vedat Yenerer, a founding member of Turkey’s IYI Party, died on 28 July 2026 at age 61 after a prolonged illness in Istanbul’s Neurology ICU. His funeral was held on 31 July 2026 at the historic Karacaahmet Cemetery.

The Turkish Journalists’ Association (TGC) posted: “Üyemiz Vedat Yenerer’in vefatını üzüntüyle öğrendik. Uzun yıllar gazetecilik mesleğine başarıyla hizmet eden meslektaşımızı hiç unutmayacağız.” Fellow journalist Zafer Arapkirli wrote on social media: “40 yıllık dostum, Gazeteci Vedat Yenerer’i maalesef bu akşamüzeri yitirdik. Hastalıkla savaşına yenik düştü.” IYI Party Kocaeli MP Lütfü Türkkan also paid tribute, recalling Yenerer’s nationalist stance and his role in the party’s founding.
