Turkish journalists Ahmet Çipli and Necip Çapraz pass away

Two veteran journalists in Turkey have passed away, leaving a significant impact on their respective local media landscapes.

In Urla, Ahmet Çipli, a prominent journalist known for his work strengthening the local press and municipal relations, has died. While specific details regarding his cause of death have not been officially released, reports suggest he may have been dealing with chronic age-related health issues or a sudden medical emergency. Urla Mayor Selçuk Balkan expressed deep sorrow, noting Çipli’s foundational role in establishing the municipality’s press office.

In Yüksekova, Necip Çapraz passed away following a heart attack at his home. Çapraz had a journalism career spanning over 30 years, beginning in 1991. He was involved in the establishment of Hakkâri’s first private radio and television station and played a key role in founding Yüksekova Haber in 2000. An honorary correspondent for Anadolu Agency, Çapraz received multiple accolades, including the Press Solidarity Award from the Contemporary Journalists Association and a local media award from the BIA News Reporting Awards.
