Turkish labor unions protest rising poverty line and healthcare disputes

Labor unions in Turkey are raising concerns regarding professional solidarity in healthcare and the rising cost of living. Nazan Eroğlu, Women's Secretary of the Health and Social Service Workers' Union, has called on HEKİM-SEN President Adil Kurban to apologize to nurses following statements that she claims target the nursing profession and undermine professional competence.

Separately, members of the KASK Confederation, including representatives from HEP-SEN and ÜNİPERSEN, held a protest in front of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK). KASK Vice President Yasin Aldemir criticized official inflation figures, arguing they do not reflect the actual cost of living. Aldemir stated that the poverty line has exceeded 120,235 TL, noting that millions of citizens are struggling with rising costs for basic necessities such as food, rent, and utilities.
