Konya Governor İbrahim Akın has announced comprehensive security measures and crime statistics for the region. To enhance student safety for the 2026-2027 academic year, the province will implement a ‘school garden guard’ program across 31 districts, deploying 1,002 personnel to increase supervision at school entrances and surroundings.

Regarding law enforcement, security data for the first eight months of 2026 reveals that 10,041 wanted individuals were apprehended. In the fight against narcotics, 1,407 operations led to 1,590 detainees, with 1,042 resulting in arrests. Authorities also dismantled six organized crime groups, seizing approximately 163.6 million lira in assets.

Additionally, police and gendarmerie forces seized over 4,000 illegal firearms, including pistols and rifles. The Governor also noted the relocation of the provincial governorate to a newly renovated historic building.
