Mustafa Sarıgül faces major money laundering and fraud investigation

Turkish lawmaker Mustafa Sarıgül is under intense legal scrutiny as part of a large-scale money laundering and financial irregularity investigation led by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The probe focuses on allegations that Sarıgül, during his tenure as Mayor of Şişli, channeled illicit funds from zoning projects into real estate and tourism investments.

A secret witness, codenamed “A3M2LK48,” alleged that the Sarıgül family holds a 50 percent hidden stake in the 150 million euro Titanic Deluxe Hotel in Antalya. The investigation has led to the detention and prosecution of several individuals, including Sarıgül’s former wife, Aylin Kotil, and his sons, Ömer and Emir Sarıgül. Additionally, Mehmet Aygün, Chairman of Titanic Hotels, has surrendered to authorities following an arrest warrant.

Other prominent figures, including Sofu Altınbaş of Altınbaş Holding, have also been drawn into the inquiry. Prosecutors are examining claims that the Altınbaş family network was used to launder approximately 600 million euros in bribes. While several suspects have been arrested or placed under judicial control, Sarıgül currently retains parliamentary immunity, though the investigation files have been referred to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the necessary procedures to lift that immunity.
