Turkish local authorities tighten restaurant and market inspections
In the Cumayeri district of Düzce Province, municipal police and the district agriculture directorate carried out an extensive inspection of restaurants and cafes. Inspectors examined kitchen hygiene, food storage dates, menu accuracy, licensing and overall cleanliness, issuing warnings and stating that legal action will follow for establishments that fail to meet standards.
In Kayseri, the metropolitan municipality’s police department conducted comprehensive checks of chain supermarkets. The inspections verified price tags, product weights, shelf‑price consistency and compliance with the Consumer Protection Law, documenting any irregularities and initiating appropriate procedures. Both operations aim to protect public health and consumer rights by enforcing food safety and fair trade standards.
