Nilüfer Municipality unveils summer activities and ‘Mahallede Sözümüz’ programme for women and children

The Nilüfer municipality, led by Mayor Şadi Özdemir, launched the “Mahallede Sözümüz, Nilüfer’de Gücümüz Var!” project to boost women’s participation in neighbourhood governance. The initiative outlines five steps – listen, choose, apply, share, strengthen – and will hold regular open meetings where women can submit ideas and develop local projects. The mayor highlighted existing support services such as the Nilüfer95 health‑psychology programme, the expanded “Anne Taksi” transport for toddlers, and plans to increase the number of “Kantin Nilüfer” stalls for women‑made products.

In parallel, the municipality announced a series of free summer events beginning 1 July, targeting women and children across Nilüfer’s districts. Workshops and talks under the headings “Kadınların Derdi Ne”, “Sağlıklı Yaşlanıyoruz” and “Çocuk Akademisi Yaz Atölyeleri” will be held in multiple neighbourhoods, aiming to promote healthy ageing, child development and social cohesion. Mayor Özdemir urged residents to join, emphasizing that organized community action strengthens the municipality’s collective voice.
