Turkish local officials trained on digital tracking systems for markets and livestock

Manisa Metropolitan Municipality organized a training session for market‑monitoring officers, covering the operation of the "hal" system, inspection procedures and measures to combat informal trade. The program aimed to improve service quality and enforcement effectiveness.

In Samsun, the provincial Agriculture and Forestry Directorate held a workshop for staff on the Secure Electronic Collar and Identification System (GEKİS), a digital platform for tracking livestock movements. Participants received technical instruction on electronic ear‑tag application, data entry via mobile and web tools, and procedures for quarantine and slaughterhouse monitoring. Both trainings sought to enhance data accuracy, traceability and rapid response to disease outbreaks.

The initiatives reflect Turkey's broader push to digitize agricultural and market oversight, strengthening regulatory compliance and reducing unregistered activities.
