Turkish local officials transition from CHP to Yeni Parti

Political shifts are occurring in Turkey as several local officials transition from the CHP to the Yeni Parti. In Eskişehir, Odunpazarı Mayor Kazım Kurt confirmed that his municipal council members have resigned from the CHP to join the new party, noting that membership numbers for the Yeni Parti have already exceeded 5,000.

Kurt dismissed rumors regarding his potential candidacy for the metropolitan municipality, stating that he is not seeking personal political advancement or specific positions. He emphasized that his focus remains on serving the public in his current role.

In Trabzon, Beşikdüzü Mayor Burhan Cahit Erdem, who is also expected to join the Yeni Parti following his resignation from the CHP, has engaged in cooperation with AK Party officials. The Beşikdüzü Municipality issued a formal thank-you to AK Party Trabzon Provincial Chairman Sezgin Mumcu for his assistance in securing a new garbage truck via a grant from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change.
