Turkish markets see seasonal shift toward winter food preparations

As temperatures drop and the hazelnut harvest season progresses, residents in various regions are shifting their focus toward winter food preparations at local markets.

In Ünye, market activity has remained relatively calm. Vendors note that the ongoing hazelnut season and lower yields have impacted market movement. Consumers are currently prioritizing items for winter storage, such as tomatoes, gherkins, and beans, for canning and pickling. While there was anticipation of increased activity with the start of the school season, interest has remained modest.

In Bolu, the onset of autumn and cooler weather has driven significant crowds to neighborhood markets. There is high demand for products used in making tomato paste, pickles, and freezer-stored meals, including capia peppers, sugar beans, and kidney beans. Vendors report that while demand is high, prices for many seasonal goods remain accessible as supply increases.
