Turkish mayors host 'Citizens Ask, Mayor Answers' meetings across cities
Mayors and municipal leaders in several Turkish cities held public‑participation events in early June 2026 under the AK Party’s “Vatandaş Soruyor, Başkan Cevaplıyor” (“Citizens Ask, Mayor Answers”) programme.
In Trabzon, Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç opened the Ortahisar Sanayi Mahallesi urban‑design exhibition (June 6‑12) and later met residents in Yeşilova to hear requests on roads, water, sewage and gas. In Kayseri, mayors Mustafa Yalçın and Mustafa Palancıoğlu visited neighbourhoods in Talas, Melikgazi and Keykubat, announcing a new school for Keykubat and reviewing infrastructure projects. Niğde’s mayor Emrah Özdemir held a similar open‑forum in Şehitler Mahallesi, fielding questions on local services. Selçuklu (Konya) Mayor Ahmet Pekyatırmacı met citizens in Kosova and other districts, describing ongoing urban‑development works and stressing the party’s service‑oriented stance. Darende’s mayor Alican Bozkurt visited households in Balaban Gökderen Mezrası, listening to community concerns. In addition, Konya’s Seydişehir mayor Hasan Ustaoğlu updated residents on the Alacabel Tunnel and other transport projects. Across all events, officials recorded residents’ concerns, promised follow‑up actions, and highlighted plans for infrastructure, education, and social services.
These meetings illustrate a coordinated effort by Turkish local governments to involve citizens directly in municipal decision‑making and to publicise ongoing development initiatives.
