Mayors in Turkey Convene Citizens in Local Outreach Programs
Across several Turkish provinces, municipal leaders have continued a series of "Citizen asks, mayor answers" meetings. Düzce Mayor Faruk Özlü, Bursa’s Erkan Aydın, Kayseri’s Mustafa Palancıoğlu, Samsun’s İhsan Kurnaz, Ankara’s Mesut Özarslan, Gaziantep’s Umut Yılmaz, Malatya’s Bayram Taşkın and other mayors gathered residents, muhtars and local business owners in neighbourhood halls and markets. They presented ongoing projects such as road repairs, new water‑treatment plants, urban‑renewal of historic sites, extensive social‑aid distribution, and expansion of schools, libraries and parks. The officials stressed direct dialogue, accountability and the aim to address chronic problems like lighting, pavement, aid for the elderly and support for transport‑sector entrepreneurs. The gatherings were framed as non‑electoral, ongoing efforts to keep citizens informed and involved in municipal decision‑making.
