Turkish medical institutions expand health technology R&D

Turkish medical and academic institutions are expanding their research and development capabilities in health technology. Medical Point Hospital has received official approval from the Ministry of Industry and Technology to establish its own R&D center. This center aims to integrate clinical experience with engineering to develop solutions in biotechnology, biomedical technologies, artificial intelligence-supported diagnostics, and digital health. The multidisciplinary team includes over 20 researchers across various engineering and science disciplines, focusing on projects such as life support units for chronic heart failure.

Simultaneously, the Medical Device Design and Production Application and Research Center (KTU METAM) at Karadeniz Technical University is working to bridge the gap between physician needs and domestic medical technology. Based in Trabzon, the center utilizes 3D printing and advanced manufacturing infrastructure to focus on personalized implant development and medical device design. KTU METAM is actively seeking collaborations with clinical professionals, such as those at Kanuni Training and Research Hospital, to ensure that developed products meet technical, clinical, and regulatory standards for domestic and international markets.
