Turkish Minister announces new airport developments in Malatya and Trabzon

Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced significant updates regarding aviation infrastructure in Malatya and Trabzon.

In Malatya, the construction of the new airport terminal building has been completed. The facility is scheduled to begin operations in the early days of October. During a speech at the 3rd National Liver Transplantation Congress, Uraloğlu also highlighted advancements in national infrastructure, including the expansion of the fiber optic network and the phased rollout of 5G services.

Regarding Trabzon, Uraloğlu revealed that the foundation for a new airport will be laid soon. The project aims to address the capacity limitations of the current Trabzon Airport. The new facility will feature a terminal capable of handling 10 million passengers and a 3,000-meter runway designed to accommodate large-bodied aircraft. The construction will take place on land reclaimed from the sea, north of the existing runway.
