Turkish Minister Murat Kurum says DOA scheme yields 4.5 bn TL for citizens

Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum announced that Turkey’s Deposit Management System (DOA) collected 4.5 million beverage containers in just two days, generating 4.5 million Turkish lira for participating citizens. He noted that more than one million users have already registered for the scheme, which targets the collection of 25 billion containers annually and is expected to add roughly 30 billion lira to the economy.

Kurum also referenced broader reconstruction efforts in the earthquake‑hit province of Adıyaman, including the completion of 500 000 social housing units nationwide and a US$3.5 million grant from the UN Development Programme and the Kuwaiti government to build a hazardous‑waste recycling facility and a mobile crushing unit in the city.
