Turkish ministers visit Brussels for high-level summit with Belgium
Turkish ministers Hakan Fidan, Mustafa Çiftçi, and Akın Gürlek are visiting Brussels for the fourth Turkey-Belgium Ministerial Meeting, the first of its kind in ten years. The summit, held at the Egmont Palace, involves seven ministers from both nations to strengthen bilateral ties.
Key agenda items include counter-terrorism cooperation, specifically regarding groups such as the PKK and FETÖ, as well as judicial and police collaboration. The delegations will also address migration, visa processes, consular services, and the defense industry. Minister Gürlek emphasized the need for Belgium to take concrete measures against FETÖ activities within its borders.
Beyond the trilateral meeting, Foreign Minister Fidan is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and EU High Representative Kaja Kallas. Economically, the two nations aim to increase their trade volume from $9.2 billion in 2025 to a target of $15 billion.
