Turkey clarifies green passport eligibility for war invalids and martyrs' relatives
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi has clarified the eligibility requirements for the special stamped passport, commonly known as the “green passport,” for war invalids and relatives of martyrs. Responding to a parliamentary inquiry from CHP Uşak Deputy Ali Karaoba, Çiftçi stated that no new legislation is required as the current framework already addresses these groups.
Under the existing Passport Law and the Social Security Institution (SGK) regulations, individuals receiving war or duty disability pensions, along with their spouses and children, are eligible if they meet specific criteria. A primary requirement is that they must benefit from the advancement of grade levels as stipulated under the relevant provisions of the Social Security Institution Law.
To apply, eligible individuals must first obtain an official certificate of entitlement from the Social Security Institution or local social security directorates. This document is necessary to proceed with the passport application process.
